10/16 Thanksgiving dinner : )

Thanks Dominick and Jeannine for this warm and cozy dinner party:)

I went to a pot-luck style thanksgiving dinner party held by Dominick and Jeannine today. It was a my FIRST thanksgiving dinner EVER :) so I have been looking forward to the food!

And it was because of the dinner that I knew that Canadian celebrates Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October.

I love the stuffing so much!! They said I was lucky to have such a delicious stuffing for my first try. Not all taste as delicious as this one. (Thanks to Stephanie's mom!)
I felt stuffed like the turkey after eating all these delicious food lol

Some of the food we had today I only read from books or learned from playing "Restaurant City" on facebook lol
It was great to have the chance to taste them :)

It was always game time after dinner. :D
This time we played "Mafia" and "Apple to Apple"

I could never survived to the critical vote in "Mafia" :"(

"Apple to Apple" is a new game to me.
The rule is to choose a "noun card" which you think best fits the "adjective card" given.
But since there are so many American figures that I'm not familiar with, I had the privilege to change my card if I don't know what the "noun card" means. :P

We had a such great time that we didn't notice it was already 11 at night!

ps. Pop rice is made by similar process to pop corn. Rice is put into pressure vessel to be popped. After it is popped, they are stick together by maltose.

今天去實驗室學長Dominick家吃感恩節晚餐。感謝Dominick跟他的未婚妻Jeannine
之所以十月就在吃感恩節晚餐,因為學長的未婚妻Jeannine是加拿大人,而加拿大的感恩節是十月的第二個星期一(今年是10/11)。
這是我人生中第一個感恩節晚餐,所以還滿期待會吃到甚麼特別的節慶食物。

由於今天是pot-luck style,所以每個人都要帶一道菜。

(結果大學部的都帶現成點心就是了XDDD)

Stuffing超好吃,把奶油跟麵包還有一些配料拌在一起烤。不過Stephanie自己也說這道實在不是很健康,所以一年吃這麼一次就好。他們說我算很幸運,第一次吃stuffing就吃到這麼好吃的,因為一般的stuffing不是這個味道,Stephanie媽媽的私房食譜太優了!

熱蘋果汁算是秋天的季節飲料,要熱熱的喝最舒服,本來Jeannine拿他們家冰箱裡的果汁問我說要不要幫我加熱,我想這樣太麻煩還跟她說不用XD。

馬鈴薯泥跟醬可以放在鵝肉上一起吃。(其實感恩節一般是吃火雞,不過Dominick想來點不一樣的,所以特別去找了鵝肉。)

南瓜派也是秋天的季節食物。我以前在台灣沒吃過。

我帶的是去亞洲超市買的爆米香,(台灣製造的喔哈哈)盛盤的時候學長還幫我把它切塊。結果最後沒吃完又被我帶了回來XD(而且切好塊了哈哈)
其實我本來是要去下水餃的,不過孟穎一直說這邊的水餃沒有台灣的好吃,讓他們吃這些會破壞他們對台灣食物的印象XD

哀哀不會做菜真的好悶喔,我要學!!(都不知道講第幾遍了)

吃完飯就是遊戲時間啦!(我們真是桌遊實驗室啊)
這次玩的是「殺手」跟「Apple to apple」

殺手就跟在台灣玩的差不多,不過今天這個版本有一個「警長」的角色,她可以在黑夜的時候問主持人某個玩家是不是殺手,不過「警長」常常還沒揪出殺手就先被殺掉或被當成殺手execute掉了,好像沒什麼用處XD。我每次都沒有存活到最後一輪QQ
我真的覺得殺手是個可以讓大家很快熱絡起來的活動,以後有這種在家裡的晚餐聚會可以拿來玩。

Apple to apple這個遊戲我則是第一次玩。
玩家手中有七張「名詞卡」,每一輪有個主持人會抽出「形容詞卡」,其他玩家則要從手中的「名詞卡」中挑出最適合該形容詞的卡,主持人會決定哪一張最合適,玩家則得到那張「形容詞卡」。遊戲的最後結算得到最多張「形容詞卡」的就是贏家。

因為「名詞卡」中有很多是美國文化獨有的人物或事件,所以今天玩遊戲的「外國人」都有特權可以換卡XD

然後就這樣不知不覺就玩到十一點了...

能夠吃到這些感恩節的食物真的覺得很幸運,很多食物以前都只有在玩餐城的時候看過,親口吃到的時候忽然感覺有點陌生又有點親切。

    中英文其實有點不一樣喔!哈哈!

    所以說以後實驗室也擺桌遊好了!
    或是我們可以唱完歌去誰家玩桌遊:DDD
